Six Mental Health accounts you need to follow on Instagram

We love discovering quality mental health content online. Whether it’s an informative infographic or an inspirational drawing, there are tons of mental health social media accounts out there.
So which ones are worth following? If you’re looking to supplement your therapy with daily reminders, here are six we love.

Lemons by Tay
@lemonssbytay

Created by mental health advocate Tay Lautner for the Lemons Foundation, this account is on a mission to provide accessible mental health resources and support. We like how Tay provides snack size bits of information and action. This is simple, calming, fun and empowering.

Emmy Lou Seaman
@emmylou.seaman

Emmy Lou is a Trauma Healing Specialist and coach, and tackles childhood trauma through her content. This content is filled with information that will leave you saying, “That’s me!”. Less feel-good and more educational, we appreciate how Emmy Lou connects our past trauma with our current feelings.

To Write Love On Her Arms
@twloha

We are long time supporters of To Write Love On Her Arms, a mental health non profit that exists to bring hope and help to people struggling with depression, addiction, self injury and suicide. Content varies from real life stories, to inspiring images, facts and reels.

I Go to Therapy
@igototherapy

If you want to learn more about mental health and how it is relevant to your life, then this account is a must follow. While it’s not run by a therapist, the content is rich with details about how to choose a therapist, identifying mental illnesses and how to build relationships.

My Easy Therapy | Dr Michaela
@myeasytherapy

Run by Dr Michaela, a registered clinical psychologist, this account curates popular mental health content and shares it on her profile. With sporadic original posts that are psycho-educational in nature, this is a good one-stop-shop for great and new mental health media on Instagram that you know has been vetted by someone with mental health qualifications.

The Psychology Mum
Dr Emma Hepburn
@thepsychologymum

Dr Emma Hepburn is The Psychology Mum - a clinical psychologist, author, illustrator and mum. Together it makes her a force of nature on social media, as she teaches us about brain science, psychology and mental health. Her illustrations are fun and colourful, while also being informative and empowering. You don’t want to miss this follow.
